This accessible creative workshop will introduce you to the wonderful world of brush lettering, teaching you how to use your brush lettering pens, make basic strokes, and form letters in a distinctive brush lettering style. Taught by the lovely Claire Coullon, by the end of the workshop you'll have the skills to begin writing confidently in this modern style.
••• Purchasing as a gift? Please let us know in the "Special Instructions" at checkout who it is To and From and we'll post a personalised ticket. •••
We'll set you up and give you the tools, techniques and attention needed to be able to begin forming your own individual style. The classes are small, with a maximum of 9 participants, meaning you'll have plenty of one-on-one guidance from Claire.
Each pupil will receive:
- 2 x Tombow brush lettering pens
- 3 x Meticulous Ink guide sheets
- 5 x Meticulous Ink brush lettering practice sheets
- 1 x Plain sheet of paper
- 1 x Blank card and envelope
You'll get to keep all of this equipment so you can continue your practice at home.
Unless otherwise labelled, the workshops are held in our beautiful letterpress print studio and shop - 134 Walcot Street, Bath BA1 5BG, where you can take a closer look at the machines used to print all of our paper goods. After the workshop you'll have the opportunity to peruse our shop and stock up on brush lettering items for your new hobby.
Is there an age limit for the workshop?
Anyone can attend our workshops, though unfortunately we do not allow children under 12. Those under 16 we do request are accompanied by an adult. Please do get in touch if you'd like to discuss.
What should I bring?
You don't need anything - we provide everything you need at our workshops, including brush pens, paper and guide sheets - all of which you can take away with you at the end of the workshop.
What are my transport/parking options getting to you?
There is parking in Bath in several locations - the nearest to us would be the Podium car park or the Cattlemarket car park. Train services to Bath Spa are very regular and the walk to our shop at 134 Walcot Street takes around 20 minutes.
Please ensure you can attend the workshop before booking, as tickets are non-refundable. If we are notified 14 days prior to the workshop and you can no longer make it, we would be happy to transfer you to a future date. If for any reason you are unable to attend within 14 days of your workshop, I’m afraid we are unable to swap your date, though you are more than welcome to find a friend that can take your place.
In the rare circumstance we are unable to run a workshop, your ticket will be valid to book onto another available date.
Please note that our workshops take place at a table that is approximately 1m in height with seating on adjustable height stools, although you are of course welcome to stand if you prefer. If you require alternative seating arrangements, please notify us ahead of time.
