Well known calligrapher, artist, and type designer, Seb Lester, has created these utterly beautiful mini prints featuring some of his immaculate artworks. Having created logos for the likes of NASA, Apple, Nike, Intel, Montblanc and The New York Times, these miniature pieces of artwork have been a labour of love for the self proclaimed nerd with a lot of pens.
Die stamped in metallic gold onto gloriously thick 540gsm card, there are five beautiful designs to collect in a limited run of 130. Each one is individually numbered and initialed by the artist.
• Pax - "Latin for Peace, and an apt sentiment for our troubled times. The medieval-style letterforms are a modern interpretation of some I saw in Westminster Abbey. Two styles of rose, from heraldry and antiquity, adorn the letterforms, which are nestled in a harmonised blend of vine ornament, stars and curvilinear flourishing. The sun emblazoned on a shield in the centre of the design is a universal symbol of life, energy and spirituality." Measures 165x115mm. Metallic gold ink on White Frost card.
• Find The Things - "How might we find the things we love? One approach might be to look at the things other people love. We find that in our culture, which is largely the residue of things people have thought valuable and worth preserving." Measures 165x110mm. Metallic gold ink on Scarlet card.
• In Vino Veritas - "Latin for 'In Wine there is truth'. It celebrates the time-honoured belief that wine can inspire honesty and openness. I've paired a bespoke nineteenth-century-style Display Face with a luscious fruit-laden grapevine leaf ornament in the background. 'In Vino Veritas' expresses timeless wisdom with conviviality and sophisticated charm." Measures 190x105mm. Metallic gold ink on Imperial Blue card.
• The Serenity Prayer - "a timeless and uplifting meditation, often recited for its powerful message of peace and acceptance. It encourages us to find the courage to change what we can, the serenity to accept what we cannot, and the wisdom to know the difference. This prayer has inspired countless individuals seeking solace and strength in challenging times." Measures 125x165mm. Metallic gold ink on Forest Green card.
• Cursive - "Inspired by the work of the greatest Penmen of the 18th century, many of whom worked in London in the streets surrounding St Paul's Cathedral. These penmen pushed formal scripts and flourishing techniques to new levels of beauty. I have never tired of the dissonance between the medium and the message in a work of this nature. 'Cursive' is for people who are fancy, but sweary, and ‘Gosh darn it’ doesn’t cut the mustard." Measures 155x115mm. Metallic gold ink on Ebony card.
