This accessible creative workshop will introduce you to the wonderful world of copperplate calligraphy, teaching you how to use a dip pen with a flexible nib, make basic strokes, and form letters in a distinctive copperplate style. By the end of the workshop you'll have the skills to begin writing confidently in beautiful script lettering.
We'll set you up and give you the tools, techniques and attention needed to be able to begin forming your own individual style. The classes are small, with a maximum of 9 participants, meaning you'll have plenty of one-on-one guidance.
Each pupil will receive:
• 1 x Wooden nib holder
• 1 x Flexible copperplate nib
• 5 x Meticulous Ink calligraphy practice sheets
• 1 x Meticulous Ink Hand lettering guidesheet
• 1 x Pot of Iron Gall Meticulous Ink
You'll get to keep all of this equipment so you can continue your practice at home.
Our Calligraphy workshops are taught either by Athena or Verity. Unless otherwise labelled the workshops are held in our beautiful letterpress print studio and shop in Bath, where you can take a closer look at the machines used to print all of our paper goods. After the workshop you'll have the opportunity to peruse our shop and stock up on calligraphy items for your new hobby.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
Anyone can attend our events, but unfortunately we do not allow children under 12. Those under 16 we do request are accompanied by an adult. Please do get in touch if you'd like to discuss.
Where is the workshop held?
Unless otherwise stated the workshops are held at our letterpress studio and shop - Meticulous Ink, 134 Walcot Street, Bath BA1 5BG.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
There is parking in Bath in several locations - the nearest to us would be the Podium car park or the Cattlemarket car park. Train services to Bath Spa are very regular and the walk to our shop at 134 Walcot Street takes around 20 minutes.
What should I bring to the event?
We provide everything you need to do our workshops, including ink, nibs, paper and guide sheets - all of which you can take away with you at the end of the workshop. Though we don't anticipate any spillages, we would recommend you wear black, or dark colours.
If we are notified 14 days prior to the event and you can no longer make it, we would be happy to transfer you to a future date. If cancellation is within 14 days of your workshop I’m afraid we are unable to offer a refund.
If for any reason we are unable to run the workshop your ticket will be valid to book onto another available date.
